Dear fellow travelers,

     In order to follow the leading of the Holy Spirit as we believe He directs us, we feel the need to make some changes in the way we prepare for future Walks in our community.  In the past, we have too often found ourselves scrambling to find pilgrims just days before the walks.  This has led to sending pilgrims who were not ready, cancelled walks, poor sponsorship, and a lack of commitment to the community after the walks.  Because of these concerns, we believe that God is leading us to institute the following changes:

•   The cost for the Kanawha Valley Walk to Emmaus will now be $135.  This is a $25 increase, needed to cover the increases in the cost of Rippling Waters Conference Center and overall costs of food and materials for the walks.

•   The spring walks are April 19 – 22 for men, and May 3 – 6 for women.  THESE WALKS WILL ONLY BE HELD IF WE HAVE 12 OR MORE PILGRIM APPLICATIONS WITH DEPOSIT OF $40.00  IN THE REGISTRAR’S HANDS BY SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 5.  If we do not have 12 pilgrims for each walk, the walk will be cancelled at our board meeting on February 7.

•   We have selected Lay Directors for each of the spring walks, and they are currently in the process of recruiting Assistant Lay Directors.  The rest of the team formation will not begin until after the board meeting on February 7, when it is determined whether or not we will have the walks.
As members of the Kanawha Valley Emmaus Community, we all know that it is our responsibility to be sponsors who recruit strong Christians, leaders in their churches, and growing in their faith to be pilgrims on the Walk.  Here are a few reminders as you pray about who to invite:  

•   The sponsor is not responsible to pay for the pilgrims’ walk fees.  This cost can be covered by the pilgrim, the sponsor, the pilgrim’s home church, or a combination of these.

•   A pilgrim application is attached HERE.  Please prayerfully consider whom the Holy Spirit would have you invite to the Walk.  Then, be QUICK about getting the application mailed to P.O. Box 1295 Charleston, WV  25325.  The deadline is firm.

We are so grateful to serve the Community as members of the Board of Directors.  We believe that God has called us to serve, and we want to be available to members of the Community to answer questions, pray for specific needs, and to assist you in your Fourth Day.  Please do not hesitate to call any of us.  Our contact information is listed on the Community website.  www.kvec.org
